Professor Richard Prager, Chief Scientific Adviser (CSA) for MHCLG, writes of this new initiative:
MHCLG is at the heart of the government’s agenda for change, aimed at growing the economy and improving people’s lives right across the United Kingdom. We do this by empowering local communities, rebuilding local government, fixing the foundations of an affordable home, ensuring building safety, enabling social cohesion, strengthening employment rights so they are fit for a modern economy and supporting local growth. In order to deliver for the British public across this wide remit, MHCLG’s policies must be underscored by the best research, evidence and expert advice available. To this end the department is creating the College of Experts – where experts from academic or industry experience can be called upon to deliver advice to Ministers and officials.
