Research Interests
Dr Natasha Kersh is an Associate Professor in Education and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Her research focuses on issues of adult education, vocational education and training, workplace learning, lifelong learning and comparative education. Since she has joined the Institute of Education, she has worked on a number of national and international projects such as EU funded projects and UK-based ESRC (Economic and Social Science Research Council) funded initiatives. Natasha is currently departmental Head of Innovation and Enterprise (Education, Practice and Society, EPS).
Natasha's research involves active international collaborations, specifically in the area of adult education and lifelong learning. She was recently a Local Coordinator on a Horizon 2020 project (European Commission)Lifelong learning for young adults: better policies for growth and inclusion in Europe (YOUNG-3-2015): Adult Education as a Means to Active Participatory Citizenship (EduMap). She has published extensively on the topic of work-related learning and is currently a co-editor of the Springer Lifelong Learning book series.
Natasha has a strong record of research collaboration with external stakeholders, including institutions within and beyond academia, contributing to setting the agenda and policy debates in VET on both national and international levels. She is currently an elected board member (convenor) of the European Research Network on Vocational Education and Training (VETNET) and serves as the European Coordinator for the ‘Workplace Learning’ Network of the Asia–Europe Lifelong Learning Hub (ASEM).
